CONFIRMATION
WHAT IS CONFIRMATION? Confirmation is an educational/faith nurturing ministry culminating in the public affirmation of one’s baptism. During the two-plus year confirmation program, youth prepare themselves to publicly profess their faith and to state their   intention to:· Continue the covenant God made in Holy baptism.· Live among God’s faithful people.· Hear God’s word and share in the Lord’s Supper.· Proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed.· Serve all people following the example of  our Lord Jesus.During weekly meetings, confirmation students meet as a large group with the Pastor, the Director of Youth and Family Ministry, and adult mentors.CONFIRMATION REQUIREMENTS:Acolyte: All 8th & 9th grade youth will acolyte 3 Sunday’s throughout the academic yearConfirmation Camp:  The summer after 7th grade year each youth must attend confirmation camp. If this is not completed they may attend the summer after 8th grade year. LCDR provides fundraising opportunities throughout the year to help pay for camp. All dollars not fundraised are responsible to be paid by the family. Camp dates are posted in the spring.Sermon Notes:  Complete 2 sermon notes per month or 18 sermon notes per year. Photocopies of the sermon notes are in your binder.Soup Supper:  During Advent and Lent, 8th & 9th grade families will provide and serve soup supper on Wednesdays. Money raised helps with paying for part of the camp expense as well as youth and confirmation ministry.Easter Breakfast:  8th Grade families are responsible to help serve and provide food for Easter Breakfast. This money goes directly to camp funds. We also ask that 8th grade families help provide a basket for our annual baskets and bidding fundraiser that takes place in the spring.PARENT INVOLVEMENT· We ask that all 8th and 9th grade parents require and encourage their youth to attend all events scheduled. Ask about their experiences and help them grow in their faith. If the youth is unable to attend, the lesson will be sent by e-mail to parents, to be completed at home with a parent and then placed in the students’ binder. · Each 8th & 9th grade family must choose a Wednesday evening to help provide Supper on Wednesday evening from 5:30-6:15
